Bengaluru on High Alert as Suspected Dengue Deaths Spark Concern
The bustling city of Bengaluru is on high alert after two suspected dengue-related deaths were reported on Friday, June 28th. Both deaths are currently under scrutiny, pending official audits by the health department scheduled for Saturday, June 29th.The potential fatalities would mark the first dengue-related deaths in Bengaluru this year, contrasting with five reported deaths across Karnataka, including Hassan, Shivamogga, Dharwad, and Haveri.BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath, who was recently diagnosed with dengue himself, has taken the lead in spearheading a "Dry Day" campaign. The initiative urges residents to eliminate stagnant water breeding grounds for mosquitoes, a crucial step in preventing the spread of the disease.Giri Nath emphasized the need for micro-level plans, house-to-house surveys, and awareness drives, including the use of autorickshaws equipped with public address systems in high-risk areas.
