Kharge Condemns PM Modi's Divisive Rhetoric, Demands EC Intervention

Mallikarjun Kharge

In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has accused him of inciting voters with inflammatory remarks about the Ram Temple and bulldozers. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai alongside NCP-SP leader Sharad Pawar and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Kharge called for the Election Commission to take action against the Prime Minister's provocative speeches.Kharge specifically refuted Modi's claim that the opposition INDIA alliance would "run a bulldozer over the Ram Temple" if voted to power. "To date, we have not wielded bulldozers. The Election Commission must act against those inciting unrest. The Prime Minister himself is instigating people," Kharge stated firmly. The Congress president also criticized the Election Commission's decision to grant party symbols to factions supporting the BJP in Maharashtra, rather than the "authentic parties." Kharge alleged that the "Mahayuti" government in the state, formed through "deceit and conspiracy," is being supported by the Prime Minister."His rallies are being held in Maharashtra, and wherever he goes, he attempts to sow discord among the populace," Kharge claimed. He further alleged that the Congress party symbol was taken away from the genuine parties and given to those backing the BJP, a decision made by the court and the Election Commission.Kharge's scathing remarks underscore the growing tensions between the opposition and the ruling BJP government, particularly in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress leader's demand for the Election Commission to intervene and curb the Prime Minister's divisive rhetoric highlights the opposition's concerns about the fairness and integrity of the electoral process. As the political battle intensifies, the INDIA alliance is expected to continue its efforts to present a united front against the BJP, while the ruling party is likely to double down on its nationalist and development-oriented agenda. The outcome of this clash of ideologies and strategies will ultimately be decided by the voters, who will have the final say in shaping the future of India's democracy
