Nalin Prabhat, a 1992 batch IPS officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has a wealth of experience in security operations, particularly in conflict zones. He has previously served as the Additional Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and held the position of Inspector General of CRPF in Jammu and Kashmir, equipping him with a deep understanding of the region's security challenges.His appointment was facilitated through a rapid inter-cadre transfer, with the Ministry of Home Affairs designating him as Special Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police effective immediately. Following the retirement of the current DG, RR Swain, on September 30, Prabhat will officially take over as the Director General.Prabhat's extensive background includes over twelve years of service in Jammu and Kashmir, where he has been involved in various anti-terror operations.
