Bangladeshi Journalist Faces Legal Action for Alleged Defamation of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi
A defamation case has been filed against Bangladeshi journalist Salah Uddin Shoaib Chaudhary and Aditi Ghosh, an employee of 'The Jaipur Dialogues', for allegedly disseminating false information about Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi. The complaint, lodged by G. Srinivas, coordinator of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) legal unit, was registered at the High Grounds police station. The controversy began when Chaudhary posted on social media platform X on August 23, suggesting that Sonia Gandhi, referred to by her maiden name, was a Christian and insinuating that she had ties to the Pakistan intelligence agency, ISI. He also made serious allegations against Rahul Gandhi, claiming he had met with a leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in London and had committed sexual assault against a woman.Srinivas stated that the intent behind these claims was to tarnish the reputations of both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, particularly with upcoming assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. The police have charged Chaudhary and Ghosh under various sections of the law, including promoting enmity between different groups and publishing false information to incite hatred. Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
